How to Apply for a Labour Card
To apply for a labour card online, applicants must first visit their state’s official labour department portal and fill out the registration form with accurate details. After that, they need to upload the required documents, such as Aadhaar, a passport-size photo, address proof, and bank details.

They must also submit proof of age and a certificate showing at least 90 days of work in the previous year. Once all documents are uploaded, the applicant has to pay the registration fee online. After verification, the labour department approves the application and issues the Labour Card.
Eligibility criteria
- They must be working in the unorganised sector, such as construction, agriculture, factories, transportation, shops, or other daily wage jobs.
- The applicant must be between 18 and 60 years of age.
- The applicant must not be an income taxpayer and must not be employed in a government job.
- They must be citizens of India and have the necessary documents ready before applying.

How to apply/register for a labour card (online):
- To apply online, the applicant will have to submit two passport-size photographs along with the application form. For age verification, any one of the following documents is required: 10th certificate, birth certificate, certificate issued by a medical officer, notarised affidavit of a construction worker, voter ID card, ration card, or certificate issued by the Gram Panchayat Officer, Gram Pradhan, or Councillor.
- A certificate of having worked as a construction worker for at least 90 days in the previous year, along with a nomination form to nominate a legal heir, must be submitted.
- The applicant will have to provide an Aadhaar card, a ration card, Aadhaar-linked bank account details, a self-certification or self-declaration form (available only at Jan Suvidha Kendra or Shramik Suvidha Kendra), and Aadhaar cards of dependents. After uploading all the required documents, a registration fee of Rs. 100/- will have to be deposited.
- The application is then sent to the concerned department. If the documents are verified and found correct, the details of the worker will be recorded in the labour register and the assigned registration number will serve as the official registration number of the worker.
- If the registration is approved, the registration officer will issue a photo identification card, which the worker can collect from the Public Service Center of the relevant department or the office of the Labour Department. This card is valid for three years.
