Gayatri Scheme for Academic Excellence: How to Apply, Eligibility Criteria and Other Updates

Gayatri Scheme for Academic Excellence: The Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation, an initiative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, has launched the ‘Gayatri Scheme for Academic Excellence’ (GS-AE).

Under this project, the toppers of schools, colleges, and institutes will receive a specified amount of money through a set process. This project applies to students across all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Who is eligible for the Gayatri Scheme for Academic Excellence?

  • The student and his parents must belong to the Brahmin community.
  • The student’s parents should reside in Andhra Pradesh.
  • The student must be a regular (full-time) student of the course for the academic year 2018–19.
  • The student must be the topper of the entire course (after SSC/Intermediate or equivalent/Graduation/Professional Education course) in the school/college/institute for the academic year 2018-19.
  • Toppers of SSC, intermediate, or equivalent, and graduation levels must complete the course in Andhra Pradesh. However, toppers of professional education courses can complete the course from anywhere in India, but the parents should reside in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Should not have availed himself/herself of any amount under any other government scheme for the same purpose.

How to Apply for the Gayatri Scheme for Academic Excellence:

Eligible students must submit their applications online at www.andhrabrahmin.ap.gov.in in the prescribed format.

  • Click on “Scheme” and select the Gayatri Scheme (GS-I) for Academic Excellence.
  • To open the application form, click on Registration.

The applicant must upload scanned copies (maximum 250 KB in PDF) of each of the following documents:

  1. Aadhaar card of the student and parent/guardian.
  2. Caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
  3. Passport-size photograph (in JPG format, not exceeding 50 KB).
  4. A certificate from the school/college head/institute stating that the student is a topper of the school/academic year (current year) for the course at the college/institute.
  5. A copy of the SB account passbook in Andhra Bank (the account must be in the applicant’s name).
  • Apply and receive a reference number.

Selection process

Short-listing and finalisation of applicants shall be done by the State Level Committee (SLC),
giving priority to the following categories:

  • Orphan
  • Single mother
  • Physically challenged
  • Girl student
  • Economically very poor

Documents Required for Gayatri Scheme for Academic Excellence

  • Aadhaar cards of the student and parents (with an Andhra Pradesh address).
  • Caste certificate.
  • Residence certificate (issued by MeeSeva).
  • Birth certificate.
  • Topper certificate (issued by the head of the school/college/institute, mentioning that the student is the topper of the course for the academic year).
  • Marksheet.
  • Bank passbook (student’s account in Andhra Bank or SBI, signed by the branch manager with seal).
  • For toppers of professional education courses outside Andhra Pradesh, an account in any nationalised bank is acceptable.
